Every Halloween
we mom’s fall into the same old rut, we
spend MUCH more than we planned to spend
on only ONE outfit for just ONE night. While
the day itself is often magical, it can
give you a gnawing feeling in the pit of
your stomach when you see that seventy-dollar
costume already in the bottom of the toy
bin the next week. Avoid those money woes
with our fun and easy ways to recycle your
kid’s costumes.
The Starlet Party
If you have a little one into glitz and
glamour, you probably have tons of shimmery
kid’s costumes . . . and chances are, so
do her gal pals. Invite a few of her closest
friends over for a Starlet Party and put
those kid’s costumes to good use! Have little
ones dress up and arrive at the “red carpet”.
Have a few disposable cameras ready and
allow each parent to flash away as members
of the “paparazzi”. When the party is over,
the gals get to leave with their very own
“red carpet” camera filled with photos of
their little star’s big night.
The Super Hero Clean
Up
What to do with that Spiderman costume hanging
in his closet? Create scenarios for him
to save the day using his chores as super
powers. Defeat the bad guys with every chore
completed. When he’s done, he can hang up
his costume just like the real Spidey and
hide his super identity.
*Helpful Hint: Print out a few of our
Spiderman educational coloring pages
to reward your little super hero for a job
well done.
If your child has outgrown
his or her costume, pass it along to a child
who is less fortunate. Many churches offer
costume exchanges where parents can come
in and pick out a used costume from the
community free of charge. It’s a great way
to pay it forward and teach your little
one about the joys of giving.
